Wisk Aero
Wisk Aero, a Boeing subsidiary in Mountain View, California, is developing a self-flying electric air taxi. Its Generation 6 aircraft first flew in December 2025.
Founded in 2019 with 501 to 1,000 staff and backed by 450 million US dollars from Boeing, it describes Generation 6 as the first candidate for US certification of an autonomous passenger aircraft. It has made more than 1,750 test flights across six generations and names Houston, Los Angeles and Miami as launch markets. It has no paying operations yet.
No verified deployments yet
Wisk Aero is profiled in the companies register, but no deployment has been verified against published evidence. Records are added as evidence is reviewed and graded.
Products & Solutions
2 productsWisk Generation 6
A four-passenger all-electric autonomous eVTOL aircraft designed for urban air taxi service. The aircraft operates without onboard pilot controls, relying on onboard autonomy systems with ground-based human oversight via a Multi-Vehicle Supervisor.
Provides autonomous, zero-emission urban air transportation that bypasses road traffic, reduces dependence on human pilots, and enables scalable air taxi operations at lower operating cost than piloted alternatives.
- Fully autonomous flight with no onboard pilot controls
- Ground-based Multi-Vehicle Supervisor oversight for every flight
- All-electric distributed electric propulsion (DEP) with 12 motors and 12 propellers (6 tilt, 6 fixed VTOL-only)
- Failsafe redundancy in all flight-critical systems including battery and propulsion
5 more features
- All-weather capable design
- Approximately 15-minute battery recharge time
- Panoramic wrap-around windows for passenger visibility
- Fixed skid landing gear

Wisk Full Stack Autonomy Software Platform
A proprietary multi-layer software platform that manages all phases of autonomous eVTOL flight, from route planning and ground support systems through flight execution and airspace deconfliction.
Enables safe, scalable autonomous flight operations without onboard pilots by providing layered decision-making, obstacle avoidance, precision navigation, and real-time ground supervision, reducing human error and eliminating pilot cost and availability constraints.
- Multi-layered deconfliction process: flight path check, ATC coordination, onboard sensors, optimal route planning
- Automated detect-and-avoid for obstacles and airspace hazards
- Precision autonomous navigation
- Multi-Vehicle Supervisor interface for ground-based human oversight of multiple aircraft
4 more features
- Route planning with regulatory and airspace constraint integration
- Validated via surrogate helicopter flight testing and high-fidelity remote system simulations
- Human-Machine Integration (HMI) framework for supervisor interfaces
- Designed to meet commercial aviation safety standards for autonomy certification
Technical specifications (5)
- Covers full flight lifecycle: pre-flight route planning, in-flight execution, contingency management
- Integrates telemetry, intent, and situational awareness among aircraft, ground stations, and supporting infrastructure
- Tested on surrogate aircraft (helicopters) for hazard avoidance, navigation, and contingency management
- Validated via remote system simulations including adverse conditions and contingency scenarios
- Designed for multi-vehicle supervisory architecture supporting scalable fleet operations
- Autonomy hardware and software certification path in progress with FAA
- Incorporated within Gen 6 FAA Type Certification application

Register notes
Notes held in the Aerostack register. Aerostack has not independently verified them.
Wisk is pursuing the fully autonomous (no pilot) eVTOL certification path, a uniquely differentiated position from all crewed competitors including Joby and Archer.
This is both its key differentiator and its greatest certification challenge, as the FAA has no established pathway for autonomous passenger aircraft.
Boeing's backing provides manufacturing expertise and regulatory relationships unavailable to independent startups.
Wisk's target market is initially the US (Houston as primary launch city) and Australia (2032 Brisbane Olympics).
Primary competitors are Joby Aviation and Archer Aviation in the piloted segment; no direct competitor is currently pursuing the same fully autonomous certification pathway.
Profile data from the Aerostack companies register; deployment records from the verified register. Evidence grades: T1 first-party confirmation, T2 credible reporting. See Our approach for how records are graded.
