Indra, the Madrid technology and defence group, is one of the world's main suppliers of air traffic management systems. Its AI-related lines are ManagAir automation, drone traffic management and a runway safety-alerting system.
Founded in 1993 and listed in Madrid, with about 62,700 staff, it sells ManagAir with trajectory and flow tools, the iTEC platform used by several European air navigation providers, digital towers and the SAI surface-surveillance alerting system, approved by the FAA for up to 450 US towered airports. Its radars and voice systems are conventional and not counted as AI here. It contracts in the US through Indra Air Traffic and in the UK through Park Air.
The FAA awarded it air-ground communications modernisation in November 2025 and a programme covering up to 612 legacy radars in January 2026, both conventional work within the US air traffic modernisation programme. ManagAir has also been deployed in Indonesia and Vietnam.
In May 2026 Indra and NATS formed Iqonair, a digital-tower joint venture combining Indra's tower systems with AI video analytics from NATS-owned Searidge Technologies.

FAA radar replacement contracts with RTX and Indra
Up to 612 legacy radars are to be replaced by June 2028 under contracts with RTX and Indra, the FAA announced on 5 January 2026. Replacements were scheduled to begin that quarter. RTX put the value of its award at USD 438 million.
The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded Indra a contract worth up to USD 244.3 million, if all options are taken up, to replace legacy UHF and VHF air-ground radios, GovCon Wire reported on 28 August 2024.
Indra's own announcement on 6 November 2024 said the contract covers up to 46,000 radios plus ten years of support and maintenance, and that it would move production of its Park Air radios for the US market to Overland Park, Kansas.
