CLEAR, a New York identity company, runs biometric lanes and eGates at airport security checkpoints across the United States, working with the TSA.
Founded in 2010, it verifies a traveller's identity by face or fingerprint so they can skip the document check, and some installations pair the gates with TSA PreCheck Touchless ID or Customs and Border Protection programmes. The register holds no staff, funding or throughput figures for the company.
Recent installations include San Diego (SAN) Terminal 2, San Jose (SJC), Sacramento (SMF), Houston Hobby (HOU) and Houston George Bush (IAH), where it is linked to a Customs and Border Protection programme.
