Palantir Technologies
Palantir, the Denver data and AI company listed in New York, runs safety-data analysis for the FAA and supplies the Foundry platform behind Airbus's Skywise.
Founded in 2003 with 1,001 to 5,000 staff, it applies Foundry and its AI Platform to aviation data. For the FAA it has handled safety monitoring since 2021, analyses runway close calls, a contract expanded after the January 2025 collision at Washington National (DCA), and is modernising data at the FAA Logistics Center. It lost the FAA's main air traffic software contract to Air Space Intelligence in June 2026.
Skywise has been built on Foundry since 2017, and Airbus extended the arrangement in March 2026. United Airlines has used Skywise and Foundry for its Airbus fleet maintenance since 2019.

Products & Solutions
2 productsPalantir Foundry
Palantir Foundry is an enterprise data integration and analytics operating system that connects siloed data sources into a unified ontology-powered platform. It enables organisations to build operational applications, run analytics workflows, and integrate AI/ML models on top of live operational data.
Aviation operators and manufacturers face fragmented, siloed data across maintenance systems, operations planning, engineering data, supply chains, and flight records. Foundry integrates these sources into a governed, connected data environment enabling faster and more accurate operational decisions, reducing aircraft delays, optimising schedules, cutting MRO costs, and improving safety oversight.
- Ontology-based data model linking people, systems, aircraft, and data globally
- Pipeline-based data integration from heterogeneous sources at petabyte scale
- Time-series sensor data processing (up to 20,000 sensors per aircraft; ~1,000,000 data points per flight)
- Predictive maintenance and alerting to reduce delays, cancellations, and AOG events
5 more features
- AI/ML model integration for operational workflows (network scheduling, route optimisation)
- Cross-organisation data sharing with access control (Skywise multi-airline collaboration)
- Single source of truth for KPI standardisation and reporting
- Application builder for custom operational tools (e.g., American Airlines 'Vector' scheduling tool)
- Audit-ready data lineage and governance controls
Technical specifications (6)
- Petabyte-scale data processing
- Real-time data ingestion (20-100 sensor data points per second per aircraft)
- Multi-cloud and sovereign cloud deployment support
- Cross-organisation enrolment and identity provider integration
- Cryptographically signed deployments via Apollo continuous delivery layer
- IL5/IL6 and higher national security authorisation (US DoD)
Palantir AIP (Artificial Intelligence Platform)
Palantir AIP is the AI workflow and agent orchestration layer that runs LLMs and other AI models on a customer's private data network with full enterprise control. AIP allows organisations to build AI agents and automated decision workflows grounded in operational data, with human-in-the-loop approval mechanisms.
Airlines, MRO providers, and aviation manufacturers struggle to translate large volumes of operational data into automated, AI-assisted decisions. AIP enables AI agents to autonomously perform tasks such as parts allocation, procurement recommendations, maintenance scheduling, and manufacturing workflow optimisation, while keeping human operators in control of final decisions.
- LLM and AI model deployment on private enterprise networks
- AI agent builder with tool-use and real-world action capabilities
- Human-in-the-loop approval flows for AI-proposed actions
- Automated workflow builder (Workflow Builder) for production AI applications
6 more features
- Pre-built AI application library (AIP Now)
- End-to-end evaluation tooling for iterative AI workflow improvement
- Ontology SDK anchoring AI actions in operational data
- Autonomous parts allocation and procurement recommendation (FTAI use case)
- Supply chain scanning across internal and external sources
- Demand forecasting via customer data integration
Technical specifications (4)
- Multi-LLM support across major model providers
- Private network deployment, data does not leave customer environment
- Integration with Palantir Foundry Ontology for grounding AI actions in operational truth
- Supports air-gapped and disconnected environment deployment via Apollo
