Analogic

Security & Screening

Analogic, of Peabody, Massachusetts, makes CT scanners for checkpoint and hold-baggage screening, which build a 3D image of each bag and flag threats automatically. The TSA is its largest buyer.

Founded in 1967, the private company has 1,001 to 5,000 staff. Its ConneCT checkpoint scanner lets passengers leave liquids and laptops in their bags, and SeleCT screens checked baggage and cargo; its detection software is not marketed as AI as such. ConneCT has an open architecture, and BigBear.ai's Pangiam threat-detection software has integrated with it since June 2025.

The TSA awarded a 198 million US dollar mid-size CT contract in 2021 and, in 2022, orders worth up to 781.2 million for up to 938 ConneCT systems. American Airlines was the launch customer, with the first CT carry-on lane at Phoenix (PHX) Terminal 4 in June 2017.

No verified deployments yet

Analogic is profiled in the companies register, but no deployment has been verified against published evidence. Records are added as evidence is reviewed and graded.

eXpress

The eXpress is a modular Automated Tray Return System (ATRS) designed to pair with the Analogic ConneCT Checkpoint Explosive Detection System at airport security checkpoints.

The problem it addresses

Manual tray handling at airport security checkpoints reduces lane throughput, requires additional labor, and creates passenger congestion. The eXpress addresses this by automating the full tray lifecycle - from passenger bag placement through CT scanning and back to divest - allowing checkpoints to process higher passenger volumes with reduced staffing and improved flow management.

Key features
  • Fully automated tray return system paired with ConneCT checkpoint EDS
  • Modular plug-and-play architecture supports checkpoints of any size and configuration
  • Configurable for parallel divest stations with automated tray return for high-throughput lanes
  • Configurable for reduced-size lanes with serial divest stations for space-constrained checkpoints
5 more features
  • Configurable for expandable revest stations with camera-activated tray lowerator
  • Modeling and simulation capability available for optimal checkpoint layout design
  • Designed to optimize ConneCT CT scanner performance
  • Average installation time of 16 hours
  • Accommodates hardware and software upgrades for long-term serviceability

SeleCT

The SeleCT is a 4th-generation CT-based Explosive Detection System (EDS) designed for aviation hold baggage screening (HBS) and air cargo inspection.

The problem it addresses

Checked baggage and air cargo screening requires high throughput processing of large and heavy items to meet the operational demands of busy airports while maintaining compliance with TSA and ECAC explosive detection standards. The SeleCT addresses throughput, lifecycle cost, and regulatory compliance requirements for hold baggage operations, including the transition to ECAC Standard 3.1, while enabling risk-based screening through selectable algorithm modes.

Key features
  • Next-generation 3D CT image quality for improved detection accuracy and lower false alarm rates
  • Selectable threat detection algorithms enabling risk-based screening modes
  • Selectable belt speeds (0.5 m/s and 0.3 m/s) for intelligent load balancing and reduced energy consumption
  • Bearingless gantry design eliminates catastrophic bearing failure risk and reduces maintenance downtime
7 more features
  • Futureproof platform with in-situ upgrades supporting 20-plus year operational lifecycle
  • Common operating platform with ConneCT providing shared GUI, network, training, service, software, APIs, and spare parts
  • Open architecture supporting third-party algorithm integrations
  • Blue network connectivity for airport-wide and multi-airport networking, remote screening, and operational monitoring
  • Touchscreen operator workstation with common GUI shared with ConneCT
  • Cyber-hardened design
  • Supports hold baggage, air cargo, palletized cargo, and people screening applications

ConneCT

The ConneCT Checkpoint Security System is a Computed Tomography (CT)-based Explosive Detection System (EDS) designed for aviation security checkpoint screening of carry-on baggage. It combines 3D CT imaging with advanced explosive threat detection software and features an innovative bearingless mechanical gantry design.

The problem it addresses

Traditional 2D X-ray checkpoint scanners require passengers to remove liquids and electronics from carry-on bags, creating throughput bottlenecks and extended security processing times. The ConneCT addresses this by providing full 3D CT imaging that enables automated explosive detection with sufficient confidence to permit liquids and electronics to remain in bags, reducing divestment requirements and increasing passenger throughput at security checkpoints.

Key features
  • Full 3D high-resolution CT imaging for explosive detection and reduced false alarm rates
  • 2nd-generation high-speed CT technology with throughput exceeding 660 trays per hour
  • Innovative bearingless gantry design eliminates bearing replacement, improving reliability and reducing total cost of ownership
