Kazakhstan's aviation administration said on 24 August 2026 that 54 Q-Gate biometric passport-control terminals were operating at 11 border checkpoints, including Almaty and Astana airports, verifying passengers by face and passport in 15 to 50 seconds.
About 200 more are planned by 2028.
