EU Entry/Exit System pre-registration kiosks at Helsinki Airport
Deployed · limited scope
The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) started at Helsinki Airport on 12 October 2025, run by the Finnish Border Guard with a six-month transition period, Finavia announced on 2 September 2025. Non-EU travellers register their biometrics at a self-service kiosk before a border guard verifies them, Finnair's guidance says, and the transition ran to April 2026.
An Amadeus-authored article in the Border Management Today journal (IBMATA) says Helsinki has 60 EES pre-registration kiosks in a process designed with Amadeus and expects processing times to fall by at least 30%. The same article calls Finland the only EU member state to have simplified this step successfully, a claim from the supplier rather than an EU body.
No post-launch waiting-time figures had been published as of 16 October 2026. The 30% is an expectation, not a measured result.
