Smart Airports

UISEE, a Beijing company founded in 2016, builds Level 4 autonomous driving for airport tractors, patrol cars and buses. Its fleets run without drivers at Hong Kong (HKG), Singapore Changi (SIN) and Urumqi (URC).

Hong Kong runs more than 70 of its autonomous vehicles, and Changi uses fully driverless baggage tractors in live operations. At Urumqi more than 40 tractors handle about 90 per cent of transfers between the cargo station and the apron.

Level 4 autonomous vehicle fleet at Hong Kong International

Hong Kong International · UISEE

More than 56 autonomous electric tractors, eight patrol cars and six staff shuttle buses run at Hong Kong International, International Airport Review reported on 11 February 2026. The Airport Authority says each autonomous tractor saves four manual driving positions on average, and the fleet had covered more than 3 million kilometres.

UISEE, which supplies the AI driving system, gives bigger numbers two months later: more than 70 vehicles, over 4 million kilometres, more than 1,500 days in operation and support for more than 300 flights a day.

UISEE also calls this the world's first large-scale Level 4 deployment at an airport. That claim is the vendor's own.

Driverless baggage tractors in live operations at Changi

Singapore Changi · UISEE

Fully driverless baggage tractors are in live operations at Changi on the Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 route, after about a year of trials and more than 5,000 test trips, ACI Asia-Pacific reported on 20 January 2026. Each carries more than ten sensors and cameras, and they are supervised remotely.

More are coming. Six more will run on a Terminal 2 route with SATS, and the fleet is due to reach 24 by 2027.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore co-funded the work, the report said.

UISEE driverless tractor fleet at Ürümqi Tianshan, 40 in 2025 and 52 in 2026

Ürümqi Tianshan · UISEE

UISEE said in November 2025 that a fleet of 40 of its driverless tractors, which it calls AI drivers, handled more than 90% of cargo transfers between the cargo station and apron at Ürümqi Tianshan.

In August 2026 UISEE said that 52 autonomous tractors there handle over 85% of cargo and mail and over 75% of baggage transfers.
