Ryanair plans Google DeepMind models for fleet operations and maintenance
Ryanair signed a five-year data and AI partnership with Google Cloud in August 2026, giving its 35,000 employees Gemini Enterprise and Google Workspace. It plans to use Google DeepMind's AlphaEvolve and WeatherNext models for fleet operations and maintenance scheduling. None of the operational tools has a published start date.
The operating picture

Ryanair runs about 3,900 flights a day from 95 bases with a fleet of 647 aircraft, according to reporting on the deal, and aims to carry 300 million passengers a year by 2034. The Google agreement covers AI and productivity tools for staff, and a second cloud to keep critical services running if one provider fails.
The operational element is the part aviation readers will watch: Google DeepMind's AlphaEvolve and its WeatherNext forecasting models are to assist fleet operations and maintenance scheduling. The longstanding 15below passenger notification service stays in the wider register, because its sources describe automated messaging but no AI.

The operational problem
A fleet of this size has to fit maintenance into the time aircraft spend on the ground across many bases, and weather disrupts both the flying programme and the maintenance plan.
What the evidence reports
Ryanair announced on 12 August 2026 a five-year data and AI partnership with Google Cloud, bringing Gemini Enterprise and Google Workspace to 35,000 employees. The Next Web reported that Gemini is to be used to automate decisions, optimise crew logistics and support office work, and that Ryanair plans to use AlphaEvolve and WeatherNext for fleet operations and maintenance scheduling. Chief executive Eddie Wilson said the airline's growth needs "excellent infrastructure resilience".
Operational significance
AlphaEvolve is a DeepMind system for discovering and improving algorithms, and WeatherNext is a family of forecasting models. Applied to maintenance scheduling and operations, they would sit close to the decisions that drive punctuality, which is where the deal's operational value would show.
Evidence still needed
No timetable, scope or contract value has been published for the operational work. The staff tools are the only part described as being rolled out.
Other records are shown separately, including non-AI technology and programmes at different stages of deployment. A register entry does not establish a measured AI benefit.
15below passenger notifications at Ryanair · Deployed · limited scope
Ryanair sends more than 50 million personalised notifications a year through 15below, the vendor says in a case study.
The relationship goes back about two decades. Ryanair was 15below's first customer, and in October 2022 the two marked 20 years together with a contract extension, Travel Daily Media reported on 6 October 2022.
A source can verify an announcement without verifying its projected outcome.
Editorial assessment
Ryanair's documented AI is, for now, a contract. The staff tools are the immediate part; the operational models are a plan.
The next update should establish whether AlphaEvolve and WeatherNext are running in maintenance planning or operations control, and with what effect on punctuality.
