Fuzhou Changle Airport Customs brought its smart travel-inspection system fully online when Terminal 2 opened on 16 September 2026, Fuzhou Customs reported the next day. In X-ray and CT baggage-image review, a visual recognition tool called Le Shen Bao gives an AI first screen and an officer then reviews the result, which customs says has raised accuracy in spotting prohibited and dutiable goods. To track look-alike bags in crowds, structured-light cameras paired with high-definition colour cameras link each bag to its passenger as it moves between areas.
The system was planned as a second-phase smart customs and border project inside the new joint-inspection building. Fujian Daily reported on 22 February 2026 that commissioning was due to finish by 31 May, and a joint provincial team approved T2 for international opening at the end of August 2026. Customs also lists one-pass screening shared with airport security and a walk-through exit health channel.
No equipment supplier is named, and customs gives no accuracy or throughput figures for the AI first screen. Officers still review every flagged image.
