Fuzhou Changle's Terminal 2 opened on 16 September 2026, the Fujian provincial government announced on 2 September. Its earlier report of 8 May 2026 described the passenger equipment then being installed and commissioned: face check-in kiosks, where a passenger registers once with ID card and face, and 18 smart bag-drop units that weigh bags, read their size and type and link them to the passenger.

At security, the provincial report says self-service verification gates working alongside staffed counters take eight seconds per passenger. Every lane has a tray-return system that uses face recognition and RFID to bind each passenger to their bags, and an airport staff member quoted in the report says the equipment is 100% domestically produced.

The May report described commissioning, not live use, so the opening date comes from the September notice. No supplier is named, and no throughput figures from live operation had been published as of 16 October 2026.
