Dubai Police uses AI in security systems at Dubai's airports for passenger screening, for detecting and handling unattended baggage and for analysing camera feeds and visual data, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on 20 September 2026. Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, reviewed the systems during his annual inspection of the General Department of Airport Security and called for wider use of AI across security operations.
The figures released with the inspection are Dubai Police's own: 95.2 million passengers and more than 86.75 million pieces of baggage secured at Dubai airports in 2025. Al Marri also said human talent remains a key pillar of security, a point Khaleej Times reported the same day.
No supplier, system name or performance measure for the AI tools was given. The capability belongs to Dubai Police rather than the airport operator.
